Pope receives Vineyard church leaders

October 07, 2016

Pope Francis received leaders of the Vineyard movement in a private audience on October 6.

“On behalf of the global Vineyard family, we bore greetings to Pope Francis during a remarkable conversation at the Vatican today,” John and Ele Mumford, coordinators of the Vineyard International Executive, said in a tweet.

The Mumfords founded Vineyard Churches UK and Ireland in 1991. The charismatic and evangelical movement, which has 1,500 affiliated churches, was founded in California by John Wimber (1934-97) and others in the 1970s.
