Connecticut archbishop forms foundation for civil improvements

October 03, 2016

Archbishop Leonard Blair of Hartford, Connecticut, has brought together local government, corporate, and educational leaders to discuss plans for civic improvements.

The archbishop has set up a foundation that he sees as a “philanthropic paradigm,” designed to support projects that will address the most pressing social needs of the urban area. “Those things transcend any one religion,” said Oz Grabiel, the chief executive of the MetroHartford Alliance, in a statement of support for the inter-fact initiative.

The first item on the new foundation’s agenda is a plan to develop a community “campus” at the city’s Catholic cathedral.
