Irish archbishop: fetal defects never justifies abortion

October 03, 2016

Abortion is never justified, even in so-called “extreme cases,” Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh insisted in a statement released for the Day for Life in Ireland.

Archbishop Martin, the Primate of All Ireland, said that just as an ill or disabled adult retains the right to life, so does an unborn child. The health of the victim does not affect the moral argument against killing, he said. “To deliberately and intentionally take the life of an innocent person, whatever their state or stage of life, is always gravely morally wrong.”
