Kidnapped Nigerian priest released safely

September 30, 2016

A Catholic priest who was kidnapped in Nigeria on September 28 was released the next day.

Father Emma Dim, the rector of the major seminary in Onitsha, was released without any ransom payment, according to the chancellor of the Awka diocese in which he serves.

Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor of Awka welcomed the priest's safe return but pleaded for government officials to provide adequate security in the area, which has been torn by tribal conflicts.
