US exorcism rate soaring
September 26, 2016
The demand for exorcisms in the US has soared in recent years, two Catholic priests told the Daily Telegraph.
The London newspaper—covering a story that is rarely mentioned in US newspapers—reports that the number of American priests officially assigned as exorcists has quadrupled in the past decade. Although no statistics are kept on the number of exorcisms, those involved agree that it has increased dramatically.
The two priests interviewed by the Telegraph suggest that the possible causes for a sudden rise in demonic activity could include drug addiction, the habitual use of pornography, paganism, and increased interest in magic and the occult.
