Strive for holiness, cardinal tells new bishops

The prefect of the Congregation for Bishops celebrated Mass with bishops who have been named during the past year and called upon them to “make a total sacrifice of themselves all the way to martyrdom.”

Preaching on September 18 in St. Peter’s Basilica, Cardinal Marc Ouellet warned of the risks of worldliness and idolatry and called upon the new bishops to “tend more decisively to holiness of life in the exercise of the functions of our apostolic service.”
