Agca's lawyer confirms: papal assailant wants to become Catholic

The attorney for Mehmet Ali Agca-- the gunman who shot Pope John Paul II in a May 1981 assassination attempt-- has confirmed that his client is asking to be baptized as a Catholic. Agca, who is now in prison in Turkey, reportedly said that when his prison term is completed, he wants to return to St. Peter's Square, the site of the assassination attempt, to be baptized.
