September 09, 2016
French police have arrested several Islamic radicals after an intense investigation that began when a car carrying gas canisters was discovered near the basilica of Notre Dame in Paris.
In what an official called a "race against time," police said that they had thwarted a planned attack and broken up an Islamic activist cell. Three women were arrested, including one who had been engaged to the man who murdered Father Jacques Hamel in July. Also arrested was young man who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.
