Peace begins with 'little things,' Pope tells congregation at daily Mass

September 08, 2016

Resuming his daily celebration of Mass at the Domus Sanctae Marthae after a summer hiatus, Pope Francis told a congregation on September 8: "Peace is not just made at big international meetings."

"Peace is a gift," the Holy Father said: "It is a hand-crafted gift that we must work for every day." He went on to say that "small daily gestures" build up a culture of peace. The Pope challenged the congregation: "If in your little things, in your heart, there is no peace, in your family there is no peace, in your neighbourhood there is no peace, in your place of work there is no peace, there will not be peace in the world.”
