Pakistani Catholic to head provincial government's bid for inter-religious relations

August 31, 2016

A Catholic politician has been named to head government efforts to promote inter-religious cooperation in the western Sindh province in Pakistan.

Anthony Naveed, a veteran human-rights activist, is the first Christian to be given this task, and the only Catholic in the ruling cabinet in Sindh. He notes that the provincial government "has been working hard to move forward to promote interfaith harmony and develop a tolerant society for people from different religions, faiths, and sects."
