Mississippi man arrested for murder of nuns
August 29, 2016
Police in Mississippi have arrested a man and charged him with the murder of two women religious on August 25.
Rodney Early Sanders reportedly confessed to killing Sister Margaret Held and Sister Paula Merrill, who had been working at a medical clinic. They were found at their home in Durant, Mississippi, where they had evidently died of stabbing wounds.
Law-enforcement officials did not provide a motive for the killings, but said that robbery was the "least likely" explanation.
Sanders could face the death penalty if convicted of the crime.
