Pope Francis made unsheduled visit to two convents in Italy's Rieti region on August 9, the Vatican has disclosed.
Without any prior announcement, the Pope traveled north of Rome to Borgo San Pietro, where he visited the Franciscan Sisters of St. Philippa Mareri. Then he moved on to Carsoli, to a convent of the Benedictine Sisters of Reparation of the Holy Face our Our Lord Jesus Christ. He was accompanied on the trip by Bishop Domenico Pompili of Rieti.
The Vatican said that the Pope's visits were private.
