Argentina: nuns accused of helping hide $9M

July 21, 2016

Four nuns at a convent near Buenos Aires are under investigation for allegedly assisting a former cabinet minister in hiding $9 million in cash and jewels.

Argentine media showed footage of nuns assisting Jose Lopez, the nation’s former secretary of public works, as he carried cash through the main entrance of the community of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima.

A canonical investigation of the incident has also begun.
