USCCB president: ‘tremendous gratitude’ for appointment of Greg Burke as Vatican spokesman

The president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a statement welcoming the appointment of Greg Burke as director of the Holy See Press Office.
“I learned of Greg Burke’s appointment as the next director of the Holy See Press Office with tremendous gratitude,” said Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Louisville. “He is long known to us in the United States as a devoted man of the Church and an unparalleled communicator.”
Archbishop Kurtz also paid tribute to Father Federico Lombardi for his decade of service as chief Vatican spokesman and congratulated Paloma García Ovejero on her appointment as the Holy See Press Office’s vice director.
