Cardinal Nichols fears racism after Brexit vote

Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster, England, has warned against an increase of racial tension in the wake of the "Brexit" vote.

Commenting on reports that immigrants had been confronted with insulting posters, the cardinal said that the phenomenon was "something we must not tolerate." He added: "If a victory in a referendum remains a point of division, then we become weaker and weaker as a nation."
"This upsurge of racism, of hatred toward others, is something we must not tolerate," the cardinal said.
