Pope offers support for Aid to the Church in Need
June 17, 2016
Pope Francis praised the work of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) during a private audience on June 17.
The papal audience drew attention to an ACN fundraising campaign. Pope Francis has made his own contribution to the group's charitable work, with a donation to support a clinic serving refugee children in Erbil, Kurdistan.
The Pope remarked on the dossier of projects that ACN supports around the world, which include clinics and hospitals, schools and shelters, and direct aid to parishes and dioceses in need. Founded in 1947, ACN now administers 5,000 projects, in 140 countries.
