Irish diocese confirms decision to remove pro-abortion cathedral lector
May 26, 2016
The Irish Diocese of Cloyne has confirmed the decision to remove a politician from the list of lectors at the diocesan cathedral because of his support for legal abortion and same-sex marriage.
Ken Curtin, a parliamentary candidate who had been a lector at the Cobh cathedral, sought a meeting with Bishop William Crean after he was removed. Although he said that his conversation with the bishop was productive, Curtin announced that he found the decision to confirm his removal "very disappointing."
