May 24, 2016

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is sponsoring a tour of the relics of Saints John Fisher and Thomas More as part of its annual Fortnight for Freedom initiative to promote respect for religious liberty.

The relics will be venerated in Miami, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Minnesota, Denver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Washington.

The fortnight, whose 2016 theme is “Witnesses to Freedom,” begins on June 21 and concludes on July 4.

More and Fisher were indeed "Witnesses to Freedom" What our bishops won't talk about are all the other Bishops in England who caved and sign the Act of Succession.

I have a pretty good suspicion that President Obama, the actual first cause of the Fortnights for Freedom, will not be too impressed. However, Vice-President Joe Biden, Notre Dame's "Super-Catholic of the Year" may put in an appearance. However, I doubt that will change his views on forcing the Little Sisters of the Poor to pay for contraceptives, his view on gay marriage or letting men into women's bathrooms!
