Cardinal visits Nepal on earthquake anniversary
April 29, 2016
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of Manila, the president of Caritas Internationalis, visited Nepal on the first anniversary of the earthquake that killed over 8,000 people and caused an estimated $10 billion in property damage.
A year after the earthquake, sanitation and access to drinking water continue to be challenges in remote rural communities, according to the Church’s confederation of relief and development agencies. Caritas plans to spend more than $40 million over the next few years to help communities recover.
