Pakistan: Islamic radicals demand execution of Asia Bibi

April 22, 2016

A radical Islamic group has demanded the execution of Asia Bibi, the Pakistani woman accused of blasphemy, regardless of the outcome of a Supreme Court appeal in her case.

"We will not let a blasphemous woman go free," vowed Sunni Tehreek, a fundamentalist group that has sent out messengers to stir up support for the woman's execution. The group has indicated that if the Supreme Court finds in favor of Bibi, its members will seek to kill her.

Pakistan's top court ruled last year that Asia Bibi-- who has now spent nearly seven years in prison, facing the death penalty, despite the absence of evidence against her-- should have a new trial. If she is acquitted, she and her husband and five children will almost certainly be forced to leave the country for their own safety.

That poor woman & her family have undergone much suffering at hand of those radicals. The government of Pakistan should enable them to get out of the country secretly and not let anyone know until she and her family are in a "safe & secure" place. They could do that and should!!
