Vatileaks trial: questioning of defendants concluded, witnesses next

April 13, 2016

A Vatican tribunal has concluded the questioning of defendants in the "Vatileaks II" trial, and will now move on to hearing witnesses.

On April 13, the prosecutor questioned Gianluigi Nuzzi, one of the two Italian journalists who wrote books based on leaked Vatican documents. He was the last of the defendants to be questioned.

Before concluding its session on April 13, the tribunal heard and rejected a series of requests to hear witnesses who had not previously been scheduled. The questioning of witnesses will begin with the next court session, on April 26.
