Italian Catholics recall missionary martyrs

March 24, 2016

Since 1993, March 24 has been observed in Italy as a day of prayer and fasting in memory of missionary martyrs.

The initiative, overseen by the Italian bishops’ mission foundation, takes place on the anniversary of Blessed Óscar Romero’s martyrdom. This year’s theme is “women and men of mercy.”
