Pope mourns victims of accident in Spain

March 22, 2016

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, has send a telegram of condolence to the bishop of Tortosa, Spain, following a bus crash that killed 13 foreign students and injured 32.

“Pope Francis, profoundly saddened by the painful news of the tragic traffic accident that occurred near Freginals, and which caused the death of a group of young students, offers his prayers for the eternal repose of the deceased, and at the same time expresses his hope that the injured may make a swift recovery,” wrote Cardinal Parolin.
