Central African bishops call for peaceful, fair elections
March 16, 2016
The Association of Episcopal Conferences of the Central Africa Region has issued an appeal for just and peaceful elections.
“We launch an appeal to peace, harmony and unity on the occasion of the presidential elections in our respective countries,” the bishops stated at the conclusion of a recent meeting in Brazzaville, Congo.
In doing so, the bishops decried the “threats that arrive everywhere in our region,” including “the conquest of land,” economic insecurity, and “gratuitous and inexplicable violence,” the Fides news agency reported.
