Canonization of Mother Teresa to be set March 15
March 07, 2016
Pope Francis will sign a decree authorizing the canonization of Mother Teresa on March 15.
At an ordinary consistory (a meeting of the cardinals present in Rome) on that date, the Pope will approve decrees for the canonization of Mother Teresa and of José Luis Sanchez del Rio, Stanislaus of Jesus and Mary (Jan Papczynski), José Gabriel del Rosario Brochero, and Mary Elizabeth Hesselblad.
The date for the canonization of Mother Teresa has not been announced, but Vatican-watchers speculate that the ceremony could take place on September 4, the 9th anniversary of her death.
