February 29, 2016

Pope Francis received President Mauricio Macri of Argentina in audience on February 27.

Macri, who assumed office in December, gave the Pope a poncho, a cross, and Argentine music CDs, while Pope Francis presented the president with a medallion.

Following his meeting with the Pope, Macri met with the Vatican’s Secretary of State and Secretary for Relations with States.

Discussions, according to the Holy See Press Office, focused on assistance for human rights, poverty, drug trafficking, development, peace, and reconciliation.
