Niger’s bishops appeal for peace
February 25, 2016
Amid tensions surrounding Niger’s February 21 elections, the bishops of the largely Muslim nation appealed for calm.
“The Catholic Christian community prays and does not cease praying for peace in Niger,” the bishops said in a statement issued on the eve of elections.
The bishops prayed that “hatred, intolerance and violence in all its forms give way to love, to justice, to forgiveness, to respect for others, and to peace.”
