Pope has long private prayer session before image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

After celebrating Mass at the basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe on February 13, Pope Francis spent 20 minutes in silent prayer before the renowned image of the Virgin, fulfilling one of his top desires for his visit to Mexico.
The Pope had insisted that his schedule must include ample time for a private visit to pray before the tilma worn by St. Juan Diego, with the miraculous image of the Virgin. He had said, in an address to the Mexican bishops: "Could the successor of Peter, called from the far south of Latin America, deprive himself of seeing the brown-skinned virgin?"
