New Mexico officials seize records from Catholic schools, archdiocese

Law-enforcement officials in New Mexico have seized student records and personnel files from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and its Catholic school system, in an investigation into sex-abuse complaints against a teacher.

Following the complaints from young girls at Santo Nino Regional Catholic School, Aaron Chavez, an art teacher, was placed on administrative leave. Prosecutors disclosed that on the basis of a search warrant issued by a local court, they removed physical files and electronic records from archdiocesan offices.
