Australian archbishop blocks speaking appearance by sponsor of same-sex marriage measure

Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne, Australia, has blocked a speaking appearance at a Catholic conference by a lawmaker who had sponsored legislation to legalize same-sex marriage.
Cathy McGowan, a self-identified Catholic who co-sponsored the "marriage equality" bill in the Australian parliament, had been scheduled to speak at a Catholic Social Services event in Victoria. The archbishop requested her removal from the program.
