Two appointed to head sections of new Vatican Secretariat for Communications
February 10, 2016
Pope Francis has appointed directors for two sections of the newly created Secretariat for Communications.
Natas Govekar, a Slovenian theologian who now works at the Centro Aletti in Rome, will head the pastoral-theology department of the Secretariat. Msgr. Dario Vigano, the prefect of the Secretariat, remarked that the appointment of a lay woman "is an affirmation that attention to the pastoral is not exclusive to pastors, but involves the practices and ways of being Church today."
Francesco Masci, who works in the Vatican's internet office, will be director of the technical department for the Secretariat, with responsibilities for coordinating the Vatican's handling of the new media.
