Film highlights Soviet brutality against Polish nuns

Les Innocentes—a French film being released in the United States as Agnus Dei—premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in late January.
Based on a true story, director Anne Fontaine portrays seven nuns at a Polish convent who gave birth after being raped by Soviet soldiers in 1945.
Writing in the Vatican newspaper, Emilio Ranzato described Les Innocentes as “perhaps the most beautiful film set within the walls a convent” apart from the 1986 film Thérèse.
