New miracle eyed for Cardinal Newman's canonization

January 22, 2016

The Vatican is investigating another reported miracle that, if approved, could lead to the canonization of Blessed John Henry Newman.

Archbishop Bernard Longley of Birmingham, England confirmed rumors that an extraordinary healing is being investigated. The archbishop said that it is a “great joy” to see the cause for canonization of the Victorian-era cardinal moving forward.

The investigation reportedly centers on the experience of a woman in the Archdiocese of Chicago, who was inexplicably healed of a life-threatening illness during pregnancy, after praying for the intercession of Blessed John Henry Newman.
