Vatican newspaper lauds new book on Pilate

January 20, 2016

L’Osservatore Romano has published a glowing front-page review of Aldo Schiavone’s Ponzio Pilato, a new book on Pontius Pilate and how he saw Christ.

Schiavone, an Italian historian, has created a work with “profound historical knowledge” and “enthralling beauty” that allows the reader to see Jesus, according to Lucetta Scaraffia, the review’s author.

L’Osservatore Romano also published excerpts of the book on page 5, along with brief praise for the book by Giovanni Maria Vian, the newspaper’s editor.
