Over 1 million have registered for jubilee events in Rome

January 11, 2016

Writing in the Vatican newspaper, the president of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization said that 1,025,000 persons have registered for this year’s jubilee events in Rome.

“The numbers are not important in a spiritual dimension,” said Archbishop Rino Fisichella. “Yet they are an index of a strong participation and a felt need.” The cardinal's statement follows reports in the Italian media alleging that the response to the Jubilee has been less enthusiastic than organizers had anticipated.
