Bishops from US, Mexican cities meet at border for joint celebration

December 16, 2015

Bishops from the US and Mexico, accompanied by civic officials from both countries, met at the border on December 15 to join in Las Posadas, the traditional Mexican pre-Christmas celebration.

Bishop Mark Seitz of El Paso, Texas, and Bishop José Torres Campos of Ciudad Juarez prayed together at the border. Daria Darnell, the US consul general in El Paso, also took part in the event along with his counterpart from Ciudad Juarez, Jacob Prado.

“This is the best time of the year to talk about unity, when the celebration of the birth of God approaches, not to speak of borders that divide us,” said Bishop Seitz.
