Reports of crackdown on Christian, human rights activists in Vietnam

In recent days, Vietnamese police have beaten a Christian lawyer and arrested a Protestant pastor known for their activism.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide reported that on December 6, police assaulted Nguyen Van Dai, a Christian human rights lawyer, and three of his friends.
More recently, according to UCA News, the pastor, Nguyen Trung Ton, was arrested. He is not being allowed to see visitors.
On December 11, a spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed “alarm” at the “recent spate of violent attacks on human rights defenders” in the Communist nation.
