Pope comments on UN climate change agreement

December 14, 2015

Following the recitation of the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square on December 13, Pope Francis offered comments on the agreement reached at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference.

“The climate conference has just ended in Paris with the adoption of an agreement, being called historic by many,” he said. “Its implementation will require a concerted commitment and generous dedication by all. Hoping that it gives special attention to the most vulnerable populations, I urge the international community to continue with solicitude the path taken, in a sign of solidarity that will become more and more active.”

The Pope also spoke about an upcoming international trade conference:

Next Tuesday, December 15, the Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization will begin in Nairobi. I turn to the countries that will participate, so that the decisions that will be taken into account the needs of the poor and the most vulnerable, as well as the legitimate aspirations of the least developed countries and the common good of the entire human family.

Sorry Pappa, it is historic because snake oil salesmen have managed to prevail over all logic and decency. The agreement will do nothing for he poor. It will benefit many countries who's brutality to their poor and minorities is abysmal. Hopefully the congresses and other representatives that actually represent the people in these countries will refuse to fund it.

"Climate change" in the face of proven scientific fact (suppressed, opposition persectured, i.e. fired) to the OPPOSITE simply proves world leadership, at all levels, totally incapable of addressing real problems and finds a bogeyman to feel good about.
