Bishops of England and Wales discuss but dismiss proposal to ordain married men

At their meeting in November, the Catholic bishops of England and Wales reportedly discussed, but ultimately turned down, a proposal for the ordination of married men.

Bishop Seamus Cunningham of Hexham and Newcastle put forward the proposal, according to his diocesan newspaper. After “thoughtful discussion,” the bishops’ conference declined the proposal, the paper reported.
