At Paris climate-change conference, Cardinal Parolin calls for 'global and transformational' accord

December 01, 2015

Speaking on November 30 at a UN climate-change conference in Paris, the Vatican’s Secretary of State conveyed the hope of Pope Francis for a “global and transformational” international accord to address the issue.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin said that an agreement should be based on three principles: an ethical commitment to take action that would protect those who are most vulnerable; a recognition that “countries with greater resources and capacities should set a good example;” and a vision for sustainable development in the future.

"So, you think Francis will be around to be embarrassed by the next pope?" I think it's 50/50 he'll be around to see a new Pope; 70/30 if he realizes how he's been had by the MAN-MADE climate change carbon tax fraudsters and their dupes in the Vatican. But if Francis does realize it, the new Pope won't have to take corrective actions that would embarrass Francis--Francis would take corrective actions himself. Why is this pope so emphatic about issues wherein he has no expertise nor is it something the Church should be involved in politically. Anyway, that's my opinion. I am tired of the whole subject of climate change, global warming, and the like. There are scientists who say the facts do not indicate these scare tactics. Certainly doesn't warrant our Church emphasizing this issue over and above the crucial moral issues we have brought upon ourselves from our selfishness and lust.

The entire statement can be read as a shameless violation of Catholic teaching on Church involvement in partisan politics and partisan "science". That door now has been opened and it will be very difficult for the next Pope to close without embarrassing Francis. It's another weapon Francis has given those who look for ways to harm Catholicism. He knows this; what is he thinking?
