Islamic State frees some hostages

November 25, 2015

The Islamic State has released 10 Assyrian Christians from a much larger group of hostages, the AsiaNews service reports.

More than 200 Assyrian Christians were seized in February when their villages in northeast Syria were overrun by the Islamic State. Since that time there have been occasional releases of a few hostages at a time—probably because some ransom has been paid. About 150 of the hostages taken from the Hassaké province remain in captivity.
