Vatican applauds UNESCO program to push climate-change awareness in education

The Vatican has applauded a campaign by UNESCO to promote awareness of climate change.

Archbishop Francesco Follo, the Vatican’s representative at UNESCO offices in Geneva, said that the program will “help people understand the impact of global warming and to familiarize the young, in particular, with climate change.” He welcomed the effort to “encourage innovative education approaches to incorporating education in climate change in school curricula, and to promote awareness of climate change as well as the strengthening of informal education programs through the communication media, networks and associations.”
