Pope emphasizes importance of rest, work

The sanctification of Sunday rest, the right to a pension in retirement, and dignified work are all intertwined, Pope Francis said in an address in St. Peter’s Square on November 7.
The “principle, subject, and end” of the economy and of all social institutions is the human person, the Pope told 23,000 employees of the Italian National Social Security Institute. “His dignity cannot ever be compromised, even when he ceases to be economically productive.”
