Ex-Vatican official says Catholic doctrine is 'violence' against homosexuals

October 28, 2015

The Polish priest who was dismissed from his Vatican post after announcing his homosexual relationship has written to Pope Francis, complaining that the Church causes “immeasurable suffering” to homosexuals and their loved ones.

Msgr. Krzysztof Charamsa—who, prior to his dramatic announcement earlier this month, had worked in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Vatican’s doctrinal office—charged that Catholic doctrine is a form of “violence” against homosexuals. In a letter that was released to the BBC, he said that the Church’s condemnation of homosexual acts is “diabolical.”

Last week the Diocese of Pelplin, Poland, announced that Msgr. Charamsa has been suspended from ministry because of his conduct.

It is not charity to confirm a person in grave sin. It is not mercy to ignore or withhold correction of grave sin. Doing this imperils the immortal souls of both the one engaging in grave sin and the one ignoring it.

The important questions are: How did he get ordained and sent to work in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith? Who was behind his promotions, and why? How many of his ilk are hiding among the Catholic clergy?
