Papal document will summarize Synod conclusions

October 28, 2015

Pope Francis will write an apostolic exhortation based on the final statement approved by the Synod of Bishops, the Vatican's Secretary of State has confirmed.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin told the ANSA news service that the papal document "should not take too long" to produce, although he was not prepared to say when it would appear. "After all," he remarked, "it's best to strike while the iron is hot."

Father Adolfo Nicolas, the father general of the Jesuit order, made a similar prediction in an interview with the Italian daily Corriere della Sera. He said that whereas after other Synod meetings, papal documents have appeared a year or more later, in this case the Pope is likely to be prompt in completing his apostolic exhortation.
