Planned Parenthood undercover videos leak despite court order

October 23, 2015

Undercover videos of Planned Parenthood, which were released to a Congressional committee under court-ordered confidentiality, have been posted on the internet.

The unedited videos, produced by the Center for Medical Progress, were posted on the Got News? site on October 23. The site’s administrators have declined to explain how they obtained the videos, and have insisted that they will not remove the footage despite a court order forbidding public release of the videos.

Earlier this month a federal judge in California ruled that the Center for Medical Progress could submit the videos to a Congressional committee that is investigating Planned Parenthood, in response to a subpoena. But Judge William Orrick stipulated that the videos must not be released to the public.

The National Abortion Federation, which had sued to block release of the undercover videos, charged that the Center for Medical Progress had acted “fraudulently and unethically” by allowing the videos to leak. But the group insists that it has abided by that court order, and was not responsible for leaking the videos.
