Cardinal DiNardo: reassured about Synod procedures, opposes Kasper proposal

October 20, 2015

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Houston-- who was one of the 13 cardinals who wrote to Pope Francis to voice concerns about bias in the procedures of the Synod of Bishops-- told the Crux news site that he now believes the process offers a "pretty level" playing field for all points of view.

Cardinal DiNardo told Crux that the true test of fairness in the Synod will come with the final statement. "To my mind, that will be the tale," he said.

Regarding the most controversial issue on the Synod's agenda, the "Kasper proposal," the American cardinal was blunt. "I basically don't favor it," he said. "I don't think it's coherent."
