No gay lobby at Vatican, homosexual priest says

October 12, 2015

The Polish priest who was released from his post in the Roman Curia last week after "coming out" as an active homosexual has denied the existence of a "gay lobby" at the Vatican.

"I met homosexual priests," Msgr. Krzysztof Charamsa told an Italian television audience. "But no gay lobby." He said that some of the homosexual priests he encountered were consumed by "hatred for themselves," and attributed this to "homophobia."

The Polish priest said that despite his homosexual activity he felt that he had honored his commitment to celibacy because he "never touched a woman."

This man is rationaliziing. No one who has ever read anything about the Catholic understanding of celibacy would ever accept such a ridiculous definition. I do not believe that he is as ignorant as he sounds. We need to pray for him.

please tell me what seminary he attended and where was he when they discussed continence and celibacy. How does he apply that only to a relationship with woman? How did he ever get appointed Monsignor? He should be defrocked and certainly should not be permitted to celebrate Mass ever again. He is making it up as he wants it to be. God help a Priest who scandalizes the laity as he is doing This makes me angry for my beloved Church.

"The Polish priest said that despite his homosexual activity he felt that he had honored his commitment to celibacy because he "never touched a woman." Scary! How many other homosexual priests are there that also "believe" this redicuolous theory? If I had a homosexual affair would it not violate my martial vows? And these guys are hearing Confessions and giving advice to young men! No wonder our youth are confused! When will our Church protect our kids and get rid of these homosexual priests?!!

This is the problem with continually translating clerical *continence*, and only on account of that to *celibacy.* Canon 277 makes this very clear, and historically, continence was required back when celibacy was not. It is the use of marriage and not marriage itself that is contrary to the priesthood, and marriage is denied on account of the illegitimacy of its use.
