Italian cardinal fears 'culling' of Christians in Middle East, Africa

The president of the Italian bishops’ conference has spoken out against the “culling” of Christians from the populations of countries in the Middle East and Africa.

Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco said that the persecution of Christians in many lands appears to reflect a campaign “to uproot them, to cleanse the territory.” He wondered aloud: “Why, we ask the Western world, why not raise one's voice over so much ferocity and injustice?"

    Putin did raise his voice about the atrocities committed against Christians in his speech at the U.N. the other day.
