Paraguay’s bishops react to scandal involving ex-bishop president

The administrative committee of Paraguay’s episcopal conference has responded to President Fernando Armindo Lugo Méndez’s admission that he fathered a child while he was still a bishop. Asking “forgiveness for the sins of the members of the Church, those of both pastors and the faithful,” the bishops “beg of the Holy Spirit … the grace of a profound purification.”
